#Turbo boost switcher hackintosh Patch#
They changed something and you have to add an ACPI Patch in your ist before the update, otherwise macOS won't boot.

If you are using a version older than F11, be careful if you want to update your BIOS to F11 or newer. You can find my BIOS Settings with pictures here. You can basically download the config file provided at the end of the vanilla guide, it works almost OOTB. If you go like me with only the integrated Intel GPU (UHD 630), a Coffee Lake CPU, and this motherboard, just follow the vanilla guide and read the "Coffee Lake" page carefully. The installation was pretty straight forward. Its configuration is close to the new mid-entry Mac Mini but with more RAM (16 instead of 8 Gb).

I am very confused right now.I built my Hackintosh because I was disappointed with the price of the new Mac Mini 2018. I also did prime 95 on 2 cores and saw it try to turbo boost to 4.6ghz? and then it shot back to 2.6ghz. Is this just a bad temp reading or could it be something in the bios? I am not sure what to do at this point because from what I am reading it sounds as though the cpu is cooking itself and this is not my computer so that is not good. I just put the stock cooler onto the cpu and the temps are around 77-78 celcius! I thought the limit was 74 celcius? Is there a problem somewhere other can my cooler? It seems very strange that its even running let alone at 3ghz above its thermal limit. It happens from time to time and it SUCKS. Something must be wrong with the cooler/how it is attached or fan simply isn't spinning.

You want a THIN layer on the cpu, so you are already doing it right if you are letting the cooler doing the work of spreading it. That said? At most it might knock off maybe 4 degrees. Mx-4 is fantastic and I am not going to say anything bad about it. I also may think that it could be the thermal paste since i used the crap stuff that comes with the cooler i will test with some arctic mx-2 tomorrow. What do you mean by tint it with a small BB sized ball? is that referring to the amount of thermal paste to use? I used a small amount of thermal paste already, a little bit smaller than a pea sized amount but it barely covers the cpu. The heat wasn't transferring from the cpu to the heatsink because of it.Īlso? Make sure the fan is running and your exhaust fan is running.

You probably had severe air bubbles and just too much paste. Pushing the cooler down/tightening it will do the rest. If it had nothing on it? You would tint it with a small BB sized ball and spread it around/wipe it off.įor thermal paste on the cpu? Put a small dot on the middle of the heatsink. Take a coffee filter and just wipe off the excess really well. If the metal on your cooler that touches the cpu is not completely flat, tint it. Your cooler is not getting heat transferred to it.

What does this mean? is the cpu heat spreader messed up or is there something wrong with the software / motherboard causing it to throttle? I took off the cooler and took out the cpu within a minute of shutting off and it was not even warm.
